• I have to admit - I love photographing dogwoods as they allow for varied and creative compositions. Fortunately, I have been able to come away with “keepers” from my trips to Sequoia, Smokies and Yosemite National Parks! Here, the delicate dogwood blossoms hang tantalizingly over the Merced river in Yosemite National Park.
Tumbling Dogwoods
• Visiting Yosemite National Park in early spring has become a bit of a ritual for me. In spring, the dogwoods are in full bloom and the Merced river dances its way through Yosemite Valley. I made this image one late evening as the wind stayed still !
Blooming Dogwoods
• Early spring is a delightful time to make photographs in the Great Smoky Mountains - rivers are in spate, trees are brimming with young buds and the dogwoods are in full bloom.
A light persistent rain added to the overall atmosphere when I made this image. What caught my eye was the young dogwood tree which, despite its small stature was the center on attention in this beautiful scene.
The Beguiling Dwarf
• As the snow melt progresses through the spring months
in the Sierra high country, the raging rivers are a sight to
behold. The dogwood blossoms provide a delicate
contrast to the force of the thundering river.
EFFLORESCENCE was made at Yosemite National Park in
California.
Efflorescence
• The delicate and ephemeral dogwood blossoms vie for attention with the tall, rugged and ever present sequoia trees. While these two subjects represent contrasting sentiments, they seem to exist in perfect harmony.
Fleeting & Forever
• As spring descends in the Appalachian mountains, the dogwood blooms create a veritable floral tapestry. While making this image, soft early morning light coupled with a slight bout of rain accentuated the colors of this wonderful spring canopy.

Spring Melodies
• As spring descended in the Smokies, the blooming dogwoods complemented other flowering trees. Back lighting added to the overall charm of this typical spring scene.
