I enjoy the feeling of bliss and calm when I’m in the field making photographs. It allows me to slow down and have the scene speak to me. I often look to portray these emotions and conversations through my work.

While making this image, a grove of slender birch trees seemed to be illuminated ever so softly with remarkable late afternoon light. The delicate autumn foliage that dotted these trees provided the ideal foil to its textured bark.
